Peer Review Process
Jurnal Ekonomi dan Studi Pembangunan (JESP) uses a double-blind review process, where both the reviewer(s) and author(s) remain anonymous throughout the process. First, submitted research papers are checked for originality using Turnitin software. Moreover, all manuscripts submitted to this journal are evaluated by the Editor to ensure they align with the aims and scope of the journal. Some manuscripts may be rejected or returned before the review process.
After the initial evaluation, manuscripts are sent to at least two reviewers determined by the editorial board. If necessary, the number of reviewers may be increased by the Editorial Board. Reviewers are chosen from the reviewers list based on their expertise. Reviewers are asked to evaluate the manuscript’s originality, methodology, contribution to the literature, novelty, presentation of results, support for the conclusions, and appropriate referencing of previous relevant studies. Referees may accept the manuscript, reject it, or require revisions for style and/or content. For publication, two positive reports are required. In cases where one referee’s report is negative while the other is positive, the article is forwarded to a third referee for additional evaluation.
When revisions are required by referees, the author(s) should consider the criticisms and suggestions offered and return the revised version of the manuscript within 30 days. If the revised manuscript is not sent within a month, it is removed from the review process. Reviewers may request more than one revision of a manuscript. Manuscripts not accepted for publication are not returned to the author(s).
The editors then make a decision based on the reviewers’ recommendations from among several possibilities: rejected, require major revision, need minor revision, or accepted. The Editor-in-Chief has the final right to decide which manuscripts submitted to the journal should be published. Accepted manuscripts are placed in a publication sequence. The entire process is expected to be completed within 12–25 weeks.
