Publication Ethics Statement

Journal Policies on Authorship and Contributorship

Authorship credit should be based on any or all of the following:

  1. Substantial contributions to conception and design, acquisition of data, or analysis and interpretation of data;
  2. Drafting the article or revising it critically for important intellectual content; and
  3. Final approval of the version to be published.

All persons designated as authors should qualify for authorship, and all those who qualify should be listed. The contributions of all authors must be described. The submitting author is responsible for providing the contributions of all authors at submission.

We expect that all authors will have reviewed, discussed, and agreed to their contributions ahead of this time. Contributions will be published with the final article and should accurately reflect contributions to the work. This elaboration is based on COPE's principle of Authorship and contributorship.

Complaints and Appeals

Jurnal Pendidikan dan Pembelajaran (JPP) follows the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines on appeals to journal editor decisions and complaints about a journal's editorial management.

If you wish to appeal a journal editor's decision, please submit an appeal letter to the journal's online editorial office. In your letter, you should:

  • Detail why you disagree with the decision and provide specific responses to reviewer comments.
  • Provide any new information or data you would like the journal to consider.
  • Provide evidence of any technical errors in the assessment.
  • Include evidence if a reviewer may have a conflict of interest.

This elaboration is based on COPE's principle of Complaints and appeals.

Conflicts of Interest / Competing Interests

A competing interest exists when professional judgment concerning a primary interest may be influenced by a secondary interest (such as financial gain). Authors must disclose any financial or personal interests that may influence their interpretation of results. Readers should be informed of these interests to ensure transparency.

Data Sharing and Reproducibility

JPP Editors strongly encourage authors to include additional material data sets and codes. We follow a basic data-sharing policy that encourages making data underlying the published article publicly available, provided it does not violate privacy concerns.

Authors are encouraged to:

  • Cite any data referenced in their paper.
  • Include data sets in the reference list.
  • Include a data availability statement.

Ethical Oversight

The journal is committed to upholding the highest ethical standards, following COPE guidelines. Key points include:

  • Authorship: All substantial contributors must be listed; others should be acknowledged.
  • Conflict of Interest: Authors must declare potential financial or professional conflicts.
  • Funding: Details of funding sources must be provided.
  • Subjects: Studies involving humans or animals must have ethical committee approval.
  • Data Integrity: Authors must be transparent and encourage data deposition in repositories.
  • Corrections & Retractions: Errors will be corrected via corrigendum/erratum; significant errors or malpractice (plagiarism) will lead to retraction.

Intellectual Property, Copyright, and Licensing

Intellectual Property and Copyright

  • Authors certify the manuscript is their own intellectual property and free from plagiarism.
  • Authors retain copyright to their work, except as stated in the license.
  • Authors retain the right to modify, reshare, or archive any version of their work.
  • Review comments and reports remain the property of the reviewer/editor and must remain confidential.

License

Authors agree that all accepted work is released under a Creative Commons (CC BY-SA 4.0) license.

Post-Publication Discussions and Corrections

JPP recognizes the significance of post-publication discussions. These may be published online after review, accompanied by a response from the original authors.

Handling Post-Publication Matters

To maintain research integrity, JPP investigates concerns raised by readers. Possible actions include:

  • Publishing a Corrigendum.
  • Issuing an Editor's Note (online update during investigation).
  • Issuing an Editorial Expression of Concern (EEoC) (formal notice linked to DOI for serious concerns).
