Abstract

This study examine the direct and indirect effect of parents' socio-economic background in family's economic education and economics literacy on students' consumption behavior in the faculty of Economics. Data collection has been done by using questionnaires and tests. The data analysis has been done by using path analysis. The study conclude: (1) there is direct influence of parents' socio-economic background to the students' consumption behavior. (2) there is direct effect of family's economic education to the students' consumption behavior. (3) there is positive and significant effect of parents' socioeconomic background to the students' economic literacy. (4) there is positive and significant effect of family's economic education to the students' economic literacy. (5) there is a significant and positive influence of economic literacy to students' consumption behaviour. (6) there is indirect effect of parents' socio-economic background to the consumption behavior through students' economic literacy. (7) there is indirect effect of family's economic education to the consumption behavior through students' economic literacy
