Jurnal Kajian Bimbingan dan Konseling and its editorial board fully adhere to and comply with the policies and principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Duties of Editors
Publication Decisions
The editorial board of Jurnal Kajian Bimbingan dan Konseling is responsible for determining which submitted manuscripts are suitable for publication. In making these decisions, editors consider the scholarly merit of the work and the recommendations provided by peer reviewers, while adhering to applicable legal and ethical standards, including those related to libel, copyright, and plagiarism. Editorial decisions are made independently and without discrimination. The evaluation of manuscripts is based solely on their academic quality and relevance to the journal’s scope, and is not influenced by the authors’ nationality, ethnicity, political views, race, or religion.
Confidentiality, Disclosure, and Conflicts of Interest
During the review process, editors must maintain the confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts and must not disclose any information about a manuscript to individuals other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, and other editorial advisers involved in the evaluation process. Unpublished materials contained in a submitted manuscript must not be used by editors, reviewers, or any other parties for their own research purposes without the explicit written consent of the author. Transparency regarding research funding is essential. Authors are required to disclose all sources of financial support for their research and to clarify whether the funders had any involvement in the study design, data collection, analysis, interpretation, or publication of the work.
Author Relations
Editors are committed to ensuring that the peer-review process in Jurnal Kajian Bimbingan dan Konseling is conducted in a fair, objective, and timely manner. The journal has established clear procedures for managing submissions from editorial board members in order to prevent conflicts of interest and to maintain the integrity of the review process. The journal provides explicit guidelines for authors regarding authorship criteria, ensuring that all listed contributors meet appropriate standards of scholarly responsibility and accountability.
Reviewer relations
Jurnal Kajian Bimbingan dan Konseling encourages reviewers to provide critical and constructive evaluations, including identifying potential ethical concerns or research misconduct, such as unethical study designs, inappropriate data manipulation, redundant publication, or plagiarism. Reviewers are expected to remain vigilant in assessing the integrity and originality of submitted manuscripts. Reviewer comments are communicated to authors in full, unless they contain inappropriate, offensive, or defamatory language. The journal recognizes and values the important contributions of reviewers to the quality of published work. At the same time, the journal reserves the right to discontinue collaboration with reviewers who consistently provide unprofessional, low-quality, or delayed reviews.
Quality Assurance
Editors are responsible for taking all reasonable measures to ensure the quality and integrity of the materials published in the journal, while recognizing that different sections may have distinct objectives and standards. They should ensure that any research involving human participants or sensitive data has received appropriate ethical approval from relevant bodies, such as research ethics committees or institutional review boards, where applicable. Editors must remain attentive to issues related to intellectual property and collaborate with the publisher in addressing any potential violations of legal or ethical standards. In cases where errors, inaccuracies, or misleading statements are identified, appropriate corrections should be issued promptly and with clear visibility to maintain the accuracy and credibility of the scholarly record.
Duties of Reviewers
Contribution to Editorial Decisions
Reviewers play a vital role in supporting the editorial board in making informed editorial decisions. Reviews should be conducted objectively, with evaluations presented in a clear, constructive, and well-reasoned manner to assist authors in improving the quality of their manuscripts. Critiques should focus on the content of the work rather than the authors themselves, and personal criticism is considered inappropriate.
Qualification of Reviewers
Any reviewer who considers themselves insufficiently qualified to evaluate a submitted manuscript, or who is unable to complete the review within the required timeframe, should promptly inform the editor and withdraw from the review process. Reviewers are also expected to disclose any potential conflicts of interest that may compromise their objectivity. Manuscripts should not be reviewed if such conflicts arise from competitive, collaborative, or other personal or professional relationships with any of the authors, affiliated institutions, or organizations connected to the research.
Confidentiality
All manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. Reviewers are required to maintain the confidentiality of the manuscript and must not disclose its content to any third party. Any privileged information or ideas obtained through the peer-review process must not be used for personal benefit or advantage.
Acknowledgment of Sources
Reviewers are expected to identify relevant published works that have not been cited by the authors and to suggest appropriate references where necessary. Any use of ideas, data, or findings from other sources should be properly acknowledged through accurate citation. Reviewers should inform the editor of any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under review and other published works of which they are aware, in order to help ensure the originality and integrity of the scholarly record.
Duties of Authors
Reporting Standards
Authors are expected to provide an accurate and transparent account of the work conducted, along with an objective interpretation of its significance. The data presented in the manuscript should be reported truthfully and without manipulation. Authors may be required to provide access to the underlying data supporting their findings and should retain such data for a reasonable period, typically at least two years after publication. Any form of data fabrication, falsification, or knowingly inaccurate reporting constitutes unethical conduct and is strictly unacceptable.
Originality, Plagiarism, and Concurrent Publication
Authors must ensure that their work is original and that all sources are appropriately cited. Any form of plagiarism, including the unacknowledged use of others’ ideas, data, or words, is considered unethical and is strictly prohibited. Simultaneous submission of the same or substantially similar manuscript to more than one journal is also regarded as unethical publishing practice and will not be considered. Authors are expected to submit their work to only one journal at a time and to await the editorial decision before considering submission elsewhere.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
All authors are required to disclose any financial or other significant conflicts of interest that could be perceived to influence the results or interpretation of their work. Such disclosures should be clearly stated in the manuscript to ensure transparency and maintain the integrity of the research. All sources of financial support for the study must be fully acknowledged, including funding agencies, grants, or institutional support, along with any role they may have had in the research process.
Authorship of the Paper
The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all appropriate contributors are included as co-authors and that no inappropriate authors are listed. All co-authors must have reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript and agreed to its submission for publication. Individuals who have made substantial contributions to the research should be recognized as co-authors, while those who contributed to specific aspects of the work should be appropriately acknowledged. In determining authorship and contributions, the journal encourages the use of the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT) to clearly specify each author’s role (e.g., conceptualization, methodology, data curation, writing, supervision). This approach promotes transparency, accountability, and proper attribution of individual contributions within the research process.
Fundamental Errors in Published Works
If an author identifies a significant error or inaccuracy in a published work, it is their responsibility to promptly inform the journal editor and cooperate fully in correcting or retracting the article as necessary. Such actions are essential to maintain the accuracy and integrity of the scholarly record.
