Abstract

This study aims to describe mathematical communication through gesture in the material operation of two sets of slices. This type of research is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The subject of this study was a VII grade Homeschooling student. Researchers do data collection through interviews and observations during learning. To strengthen the data in this study, researchers recorded audio-visual learning and interview activities. The results showed that (1) students communicated mathematical ideas briefly through gesture in the form of gesture, pointing to the writing he made, (2) students communicating mathematical ideas with freedom through iconic gestures in the form of gesture drawing Venn diagrams, (3) students communicate mathematical ideas through metaphoric gesture in the form of gesture that explains abstract content, that is, set notation.
