Abstract
Learning resources can be used by students in the learning process to acquire information and knowledge. Learning resources in the form of handouts biotechnology courses needed by students to provide information related to environmental pollution due to heavy metal contamination Hg using a consortia of bacteria as a reducing agent. This study aims to improve understanding of the concept of the student in understanding the use of consortia of bacteria in reducing Hg by utilizing handouts. The method used is the One Group Pre-Test Post-Test Design using one class sample. Pre-Test administered before treatment to measure the initial understanding of students while the Post-Test is given to measure student understanding of the concept of the final after being given treatment. Data analysis was performed using the formula gain score. Value gain score obtained in the study were categorized high by 0.71.
