Abstract
The use of learning models that teachers apply when teaching can affect learning achievement and student retention skills. Learning from the environment can be a source of contextual learning to enrich students' cognitive knowledge. This study uses two classes: the experimental class uses guided inquiry model, while the control class uses conventional learning. The purpose of this research is to know the influence of inquiry model based on local potency to student retention. The method used in this research is experiment with Pretest-Postest Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The result of the research shows that the guided inquiry model based on the potential of empty palm fruit bunches with Sig 2 tailed test results 0.01 <0.05 has an effect on student retention result.
