Abstract

This research aims to improve students understanding of the functions and workings circuit components on the subjects of sensor and actuator material and a light sensor heat sensor, improve the skills of students in the subjects of sensors and actuators, overcoming the lack of lab materials. This research was conducted using the method of classroom action research (PTK) and Taggart Kemmis models for 3 cycles through the four stages, namely: (a) planning, (b) action, (c) observation and (d) reflection. Practical learning strategies provided through computer simulations using a computer program Livewire Professional Edition. Understanding and skills in the definition, function, characteristics and workings of the circuit components of light sensor (LDR, and optoisolator phototransistor) and a heat sensor (thermistor) increasing from the first cycle, second cycle and third cycle. Limitations of equipment, materials and lab time can be solved by using the simulation lab simulator Livewire.
