Abstract

This study aims to improve students' critical thinking abilities of fifth grade through the application of Realistic Mathematics Education (RME). This research is action research with a model Kemmis and Mc Taggart through the planning, implementation and observation, and reflection. The subjects were fifth grade students of SDN Kalitanjung II Cirebon 2015/2016 academic year consisting of 22 students. Instruments used include: observation sheet activities of teacher, student activity sheets observation, critical thinking skills test questions, the questionnaires, and field notes. The results showed the students the ability to think on average reached a critical criterion. In addition, activities of teachers and students very successfully.
