Abstract
The aim of this study is to describe STAD cooperative learning model improves the students activeness and mathematics achievements. This study use action research approach. The subject of this study is researcher selft and 37 eight-th grade student of SMPN 2 Malinau as participants. Framework of this study consist of plan, do, observation, and reflection. Collecting data method use observation, test, and interviews method. Analysing data use description analysis. Based on the result, it is concluded that STAD that improve student activiness and mathematics achievements include: (1) using power point to serve information, (2) setting heterogent group, (3) advice and guiding students while discussion, (4) using PPT for group presentation, (5) giving quiz in last section, (6) explaining miss understanding problem, and (7) giving awards.
