Abstract
Semantic interference of bahasa Jawa (BJ) in bahasa Indonesia occurs on several levels. BJ interference occurs couse textual translation, the context of storytelling/speaking (mind) is BJ not BI, the closeness of the meaning or equivalence of words, and influence of stronger BJ pedagogy. At the word level, semantic interference occurs in single, recurrent, and repetitive words. Semantic interference is still related with Javanese culture, both in speech or act. In terms of functional culture, the intent is hyperbolic, idiomatic, unggah-ungguh basa, the uniqueness of language, the simplicity of the language, and the sharpness/fidelity of the language.
