Abstract
The objective of this study is to ascertain the effectiveness of ctitical thingking skills (KBK) dan Higher Order Thingking Skills (HOTS) students taught using GDL (Guided Discovery Learning) dan Problem Solving on acid base material. The samples of the study were two classes of eleventh grade at SMAN 5 Banjarmasin. Two tests, Watson-Glases critical thingking test and HOTS test developed by the reasercher were empolyed on those classes as the instruments to obtain the data needed. These instruments considered feasible as it had realibility value of 0,62 and 0,71 with medium categories. The result showed that there were differences in the effectiveness of KBK and HOTS in both reasearch classes.
