Abstract

Concept mastery is the ability to understand concepts theoretically and apply the concept to solve a problem. Dynamic fluid is a material that is difficult for students to understand because of the complexity of the underlying physical concepts that lead to concept mastery of student dynamic fluid low. This study aims to determine the effect of STEM-based learning problems on mastery of student concepts in dynamic fluid materials. This research method is Mixed Methods Embedded Experimental Design. The subjects consisted of 27 students of SMA Negeri 3 Batu. Data were collected through pretest and posttest using tests, questionnaires and interviews. Quantitative data analysis using Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, Normalized Gain Score, and Effect Size. Qualitative data analysis using Coding, Data Reduction, Data Display, and Conclusion Drawing/ Verification. Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test results obtained by Asymp.Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 <0.005. Normalized Gain Score calculation results obtained value of 0.58 (medium). Effect Size calculation results are worth 1.44 (strong). The results showed that there is an effect of STEM-based learning problems on mastery of student concepts in dynamic fluid materials.
