Critical thinking skills are one of the skills that must be possessed in the 21st century. Tools to measure students' thinking competencies can use assessment instruments. Based on the needs analysis, information was obtained that the use of assessment instruments for the junior high school level was still limited. The purpose of this study (1) to develop critical thinking assessment instruments in learning to read exposition texts along with usage guidelines and (2) test the level of validity, reliability, and practicality of the product. The model used is the development of O'Malley and Pierce. The results of product validation and testing show that the product developed is feasible and can be implemented. The data was obtained from the assessment and learning validator, and product tests on students.
