Abstract
This study was aimed at identifying the ability and direct current circuit through problem based learning with formative assessment. The research design used in this study was mixed method with embedded experimental design. The research subjects were the odd semester students of XII MIPA at MAN Kota Pasuruan in the academic year of 2019/2020 with direct current circuit material. The subjects were selected using purposing sampling technique. The data were analyzed using quantitative method with Descriptive Statistical Test, Normality Test and Effect Size Test, and using qualitative method. The results of paired t-test showed a significance indicating that Problem Based Learning with Formative Assessment gave better. The results of the N-gain score was in the medium category. The Effect size gave a strong influence. The data shows that Problem Based Learning with Formative Assessment gave a positive impact on the problem solving mastery of Direct Current Circuit.
