Abstract
This qualitative study is to compare the implementation of literacy culture at a referral school and a non-referral School Literacy Movement (SLM). The type of this research is multiple case study research and is located in two Senior High Schools in remote area, East Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. The results of the study show that the implementation of literacy culture in the schools differ in five categories, namely the literacy facilities and infrastructure, the variety and frequency of books borrowed from school libraries, the school activities related to literacy, the literacy community at schools, and the factors affecting students' interest in reading.
