Abstract

This study aims to describe the thinking process of female students with intuitive cognitive style in solving mathematic problems. This study uses a qualitative approach. This study was implemented at one of the State Junior High Schools in Pamekasan Regency, Madura by online in April 2020. The instruments in this study were a cognitive style questionnaire, test questions and interview quides. Subject were selected by giving The Cognitive Style Inventory. From the results of the questionnaire, 1 female student who has an intuitive cognitive style was selected as the subject. This study was conducted by giving 2 mathematical problems that have been validated by 2 supervisors and a validator. Then proceed with conducting interviews with the subject. Subject’ answers were than analyzed using Polya’s completion step and thinking process through the APOS stages. The results showed that female students with an intuitive cognitive style solved the problem is not detail step by step. Subject have gone through the action, processes, and schemes stages in solving mathematic problems.
