Abstract

In the immersion program, cultural introduction materials are needed to minimize the culture shock. This study aims to describe (1) the Indonesian cultural orientation sessions obtained and (2) Indonesian cultural materials needed by BIPA students prior to the immersion program. This study uses a qualitative approach. The results of this study indicate that (1) Indonesian cultural orientation sessions obtained by BIPA students can help them anticipate culture shock and (2) Indonesian cultural materials needed by BIPA students are material on how to dress, communicate, eat, use transportation, food information, and relations between women and men. The result of this research are used as a validation material that BIPA students need cultural material to anticipate culture shock.
