Abstract

The low work motivation & professional competence of teachers who are still not relevant to the tasks at hand is a problem & must be resolved, so that supervision and guidance by the institution is needed. The aim of the research is to describe the influence of academic supervision on work motivation and the level of mastery of professional competence of teachers in private junior high schools in Sidoarjo Regency. The research method uses a quantitative approach with a multiple regression research design. The total population is 2090 teachers and the sample is 336 teachers. The research results show that there is an influence of academic supervision on teacher work motivation in the high category; there is an influence of supervision on the level of teacher competency mastery in the high category; and there is an influence of academic supervision on work motivation and the level of mastery of teachers' professional competencies in the high category. So it can be concluded that the implementation of academic supervision by school principals or supervisors from the education service in a good and consistent manner has an effect on increasing work motivation and deepening the level of mastery of teacher professional competence in private junior high schools throughout Sidoarjo Regency.
