About the Journal

Bahasa dan Seni: Jurnal Bahasa, Sastra, Seni, dan Pengajarannya is published by Universitas Negeri Malang (UM), Indonesia. The journal traces its origins to 1969, when it was first published under the title Warta Scientia at Institut Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan Malang (IKIP Malang), the predecessor of Universitas Negeri Malang. The institution used the name IKIP Malang from 1963 until its transformation into Universitas Negeri Malang in 1999. This history reflects the journal's longstanding contribution to scholarship in language, literature, arts, and education.

The journal was published twice annually, in February and August, through 2026. Beginning with Volume 55 (2027), its publication frequency increases to three issues per year, scheduled for February, June, and October. JBS operates as an open-access scholarly journal with a double-blind peer-review process.

The stated ISSN and historical website information covers Volume 45, No. 2 (August 2017) through Volume 52, No. 2 (August 2024). The transition to the new platform aims to improve service, readability, and publication quality.

Focus and Scope

The journal publishes scholarship on language, literature, the arts, and their connections to teaching and learning. Manuscripts must be written in English. Contributions may include empirical and theoretical studies, original research articles, case studies, book or research reviews, and innovations in teaching and learning from diverse perspectives.
