Bahasa dan Seni: Jurnal Bahasa, Sastra, Seni, dan Pengajarannya is published by Universitas Negeri Malang. First published in 1969 under the name Warta Scientia, this double-blind, peer-reviewed, open-access journal is issued twice a year, in February and August. The print ISSN (P-ISSN: 0854-8277) has been active since January 1, 2007, and the electronic ISSN (E-ISSN: 2550-0635) has been in effect since March 21, 2017. These apply from Volume 45, No. 2 (August 2017) through Volume 52, No. 2 (August 2024), with the official website of JBS previously available at http://journal2.um.ac.id/index.php/jbs.
To improve service, readability, and publication quality, JBS has now transitioned to a new platform in collaboration with Digital Commons (Elsevier) at https://citeus.um.ac.id/jbs.
The journal covers topics related to language, literature, the arts, and their connection to teaching. Submissions should be written in English and may include empirical and theoretical studies, original research articles, case studies, book or research reviews, and innovations in teaching and learning from various perspectives.
Bahasa dan Seni: Jurnal Bahasa, Sastra, Seni, dan Pengajarannya is indexed in DOAJ, Google Scholar, SINTA, GARUDA, Dimensions, ROAD, FATCAT, ZDB, Wikidata, SUDOC, OpenAlex, and Crossref, with the Digital Object Identifier (DOI) prefix: 10.17977.
Manuscripts submitted to this journal must not have been published elsewhere, either in print or electronically. Authors are required to consult the author guidelines before submitting their manuscripts. All submitted manuscripts will undergo evaluation and may be edited for formatting, terminology, and adherence to the journal’s style.

In accordance with the Official Letter of the Director General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia No. 158/E/KPT/2021 dated December 27, 2021, Bahasa dan Seni: Jurnal Bahasa, Sastra, Seni, dan Pengajarannya was accredited as a Rank 2 scientific journal (SINTA 2) for Accreditation Period I of 2021, with validity extending until Volume 53, Issue 1 (2025). This accreditation status was subsequently reconfirmed through the Decree of the Director General of Research and Development, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia No. 295/C/C3/KPT/2026 dated January 2, 2026, concerning the Scientific Journal Reaccreditation Ranking for Period II of 2025, under which the journal continues to hold Rank 2 (SINTA 2) accreditation from Volume 53, Issue 1 (2025) through Volume 57, Issue 2 (2029).
