Abstract
The importance of character education for Indonesian society, especially adolescents, underlies the development of a short story anthology entitled Hiro Sang Hero, which serves as a medium to introduce character education values and is expected to improve the readers’ character quality. The objectives of this study are (1) to analyze the needs for developing the Hiro Sang Hero anthology based on character education values, (2) to describe the development process of the anthology, and (3) to describe the validation results of the anthology. This study employed a research and development method using the 4D model. The results show that (1) the needs analysis was obtained through literature studies, interviews, and student needs analysis, (2) the product design of Hiro Sang Hero was developed, (3) the product was further developed, and (4) the anthology obtained percentage scores of 89%, 90.7 percent, and 83.4 percent based on validation by material experts, practitioners, and students’ assessment of content feasibility. The overall validation result indicates a “very feasible” category with an average percentage score of 84.2 percent.
