Abstract

This article explains the disclosure of the meaning of fashion in the Jaripah dance performed by Sanggar Cinde Sutro in Kemiren, Banyuwangi. This research analyzes the symbolism of colors and shapes used by dancers. The research results show that each element of clothing has a deep philosophical meaning, reflecting the noble values of the Banyuwangi people and the universe. The Jaripah dance is a traditional dance that has deep cultural and philosophical values, which are reflected in the design and use of the costumes. The research method used was a descriptive qualitative approach using observation methods, interviews with key informants, and literature analysis to obtain comprehensive data related to the symbolism and function of fashion in the local cultural context. The research results show that the Jaripah dance costume not only acts as an aesthetic element, but is also full of spiritual and social meaning which is closely related to the identity of the Osing people in Banyuwangi. Every detail of the costume, from colors, patterns, to accessories, has a symbolic meaning that reflects the relationship between humans, nature and local beliefs. Thus, the fashion code in the Jaripah dance plays an important role in preserving cultural values.
