Abstract
This study aims to visualize the concept of the five stages of grief into acrylic paintings on canvas and to analyze the relationship between visual elements and emotional expression. The concept, introduced by Kübler-Ross, consists of five stages: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. The study employs Alma Hawkins’ art creation method, which includes exploration, improvisation, and formation. The exploration stage involves literature review, visual reference analysis, and interviews with participants. The improvisation stage produces sketches as the basis for artwork development, while the formation stage involves the execution of acrylic paintings on canvas. The results consist of six artworks representing the emotional stages of grief. Each artwork is analyzed based on visual elements such as color, line, form, and texture to reflect specific emotional conditions. The findings indicate that visual art can effectively represent emotional dynamics in an expressive and communicative manner. This study contributes to the development of psychology-based visual art and promotes awareness of mental health issues.
