Abstract
The development of educational technology has encouraged the use of interactive digital media as learning tools, including in art and design education. In their application, visual ergonomics should be considered to support user comfort and ensure clear information delivery. This study aims to examine visual ergonomic aspects, particularly the principles of clarity, legibility, readability, and visibility, in the virtual tour of the National Museum of Indonesia (Museum Gajah) used as a learning medium for the Nusantara Ornament course. The study employed a phenomenological approach involving 24 students enrolled in the Nusantara Ornament course in the Fine Arts Education Study Program at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia during the 2025–2026 academic year. Data were collected through questionnaires, observations, and interviews and were descriptively analyzed based on visual ergonomic principles. The findings indicate that several interface elements, particularly iconography, text, navigation, and control buttons, did not optimally meet the principles of clarity, legibility, readability, and visibility. Consequently, some users experienced difficulties in reading information, recognizing the functions of interactive elements, and operating the available features. These findings highlight the importance of applying visual ergonomic principles in designing digital learning media to ensure that information is presented clearly, remains easy to read, and provides a comfortable user experience. The findings may serve as a reference for developing technology-based learning media in art and design education.
