Abstract
Gene isolation from sulfide-oxidizing indigenous bacteria in the river Kali Mati, subdistrict Muncar, is very potential for using as a textbook development on the subjects Biotechnology. The results of the interview explain that there is not teaching material like textbook on subjects Biotechnology yet, especially in sub-theme the application of biotechnology on the environment (bioremediation). Research and development objectives is to produce a research product in the form of a textbook that can be applied to the sub-theme the application of biotechnology on the environment (bioremediation) in subjects Biotechnology. This study is developing a textbook for subjects Biotechnology in Study Program Biology Education (S1), Mathematics and Sciences Education (FKIP) Jember University, that adapts the model development Borg and Gall. The development product, textbooks, for subjects Biotechnology in Study Program Biology Education, Jember University, has a total mean from analysis of the results of the validation and testing of small groups above 81%, so that it can be categorized as valid and worthy.
