Abstract

The research aims are (1) to analyse the metacognition abilities of biology student for each components of metacognition, (2) analyse the metacognition abilities for each class and (3) analyse the metacognition abilities generally. The subject is 204 students. Data were collected by metacognitive awareness inventory and analyse with descriptive qualitative. The results show that student metacognition abilities included into already developed category (72,93%). The metacognition ability for each class is 2013 (75,38%), 2011 (72,93%), 2012 (72,03%) and 2010 (70,38%). Metacognition abilities for each component included already developed category (67,51%—77,55%) except the debugging strategies included into developed very good category (88,92%).
