Abstract

To improve the reading skills of first-grade elementary school students in Indonesian, particularly in relation to reading, this project aims to create picture card-based learning materials. The five steps of the ADDIE development model, namely analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation, were used in the research and development (R&D) process. Pretests and posttests, expert validation, questionnaires, interviews, and observations were some of the methods used to collect data. Experts in content, media, and language verified the media that had been created, and feedback from teachers and students assessed its usefulness. With a feasibility rating of 94% from media experts, 91% from content experts, and 90% from language experts, the validation findings showed that this learning media was very practical. With a score of 66% from students and 97% from teachers, the practicality was evaluated as practical. Students' conceptual knowledge increased when tested using the N-Gain score distribution category (g > 0.5), which falls into the moderate category. Additionally, an N-Gain score > 52 for the effective interpretation category is part of effective interpretation. Therefore, these picture cards are efficient and suitable for use in elementary classes as teaching aids for Indonesian language.
