Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of guided discovery learning model with a contextual approach to cognitive learning outcomes. The research used was a quasi-experimental with pretest-posttest control group design. The research sample was taken from two 11th ­year classes SMAN 7 Malang. The experimental class was taught using the guided discovery model of the contextual approach and the control class using a conventional model with a contextual approach. The hypothesis test used is the Independent T-Test. The results showed that the guided discovery model with a contextual approach had an effect on improving the cognitive learning outcomes of students with an average gain score of 0.7 with a very good category.
