Abstract

Educational digitalization requires technology-based learning resources that align with disciplinary characteristics and preservice teachers’ needs. This study aimed to develop a contextual case-based Learning Management System (LMS) as an enrichment resource for preservice Physical Education, Sports, and Health teachers and to examine its validity, practicality, and preliminary effectiveness. The study employed a Research and Development approach using the ADDIE model, comprising analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Data were collected through a needs-analysis questionnaire, semi-structured interviews, expert validation sheets, practicality questionnaires, and pretests and posttests. The needs analysis involved 146 preservice teachers at Universitas Negeri Malang, while the large-group trial involved 68 students and four lecturers. The LMS met the validity criteria and was categorized as highly practical, with an overall practicality score of 89.72%. The mean score increased from 58.45 on the pretest to 85.88 on the posttest, with an N-gain of 0.66 (moderate). A paired-samples t-test indicated a significant difference (p < .001). These findings demonstrate high practicality and provide preliminary evidence of the LMS’s effectiveness in supporting students’ understanding; however, the absence of a control group limits causal conclusions.
