Abstract

This study examined the effect of Quizizz Paper-Based on formative assessment and student motivation in Informatics at SMPN 23 Malang. A quasi-experimental method was used with a non-equivalent control-group pretest–posttest design. The sample consisted of 60 students divided into an experimental group using Quizizz Paper-Based and a control group using conventional paper-based evaluation. The instruments included formative tests and a Likert-scale motivation questionnaire. Data were analyzed using t-tests and N-gain analysis. The findings showed that Quizizz Paper-Based improved students’ focus, motivation, and assessment efficiency. A total of 59.4% of students preferred it to Google Forms because of its interactivity and faster feedback. Although the change in academic scores was not significant, the increase in motivation indicates that the method can create a more enjoyable assessment experience. These findings offer teachers an innovative alternative for conducting effective formative assessment despite restrictions on mobile-phone use at school.
