Abstract

Learning independence can be achieved by differentiating instructional content, processes, products, and learning environments according to students’ readiness, interests, and preferences. Differentiated instruction recognizes individual diversity and addresses students’ learning needs, enabling teachers to adjust methods and techniques to each learner’s abilities. This study was a literature review using a qualitative descriptive approach. The findings showed that differentiated instruction creates a challenging and enjoyable learning environment and encourages students’ creativity and innovation in understanding subject matter. It also enables students to become more active and independent because the materials and methods correspond to their needs. The implementation of differentiated instruction contributes to the achievement of curriculum targets, particularly by improving students’ creativity and innovation in Social Studies. Thus, differentiated instruction is an effective strategy for accommodating individual differences and improving the quality of classroom learning.
