Abstract

The digital transformation of education has encouraged teachers to develop more interactive learning media to support the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum. One promising medium is the digital flipbook, which integrates text, images, audio, videos, and interactive learning activities into a single platform. This study aimed to develop a flipbook-based supplementary learning material for English for Nusantara for seventh- and eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 11 Malang and to describe students' responses to the developed media. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the Four-D (4D) model, consisting of the define, design, development, and disseminate stages. Data were collected through a Google Forms questionnaire and classroom observations during the implementation of the product. The participants consisted of 43 students, including 29 seventh-grade students and 14 eighth-grade students. The study produced four flipbooks, comprising three flipbooks for Grade VII and one flipbook for Grade VIII. The findings indicated that most students responded positively to the developed media in terms of visual appearance, ease of use, usefulness of the learning materials, learning motivation, and its function as a supplementary learning resource. These findings suggest that the developed flipbook has a high level of practicality and user acceptance as a companion to English for Nusantara. Therefore, the flipbook has the potential to serve as an effective digital supplementary learning resource that supports more flexible, interactive, and student-centered English language learning.
