Information for Authors

Who Can Submit?

Anyone may submit an original article to be considered for publication in Jurnal Pendidikan Sains (JPS), provided that the manuscript is original, not previously published, and not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Submissions must be the author’s own work or submitted with appropriate authorization.

Types of Articles

JPS publishes the following types of contributions:

  • Original articles: Reports of significant empirical or theoretical research in science education and related fields.
  • Short communications: Brief reports of high-impact findings, limited in length (≤3,000 words).
  • Review articles: Comprehensive syntheses of research developments on relevant topics.
  • Mini reviews: Concise summaries of emerging trends or perspectives in the field.

Before Submission

Authors must ensure that:

  • The manuscript is original and not simultaneously submitted elsewhere.
  • The study adheres to ethical standards and includes ethical clearance if applicable.
  • The manuscript is written in grammatically correct English or Bahasa Indonesia (accepted manuscripts must be translated into English).
  • All references follow APA 6th Edition style and figures/tables are submitted separately with sufficient quality.

    Online Submission

    Manuscripts should be submitted via the online system through the JPS journal website. Only one corresponding author is permitted. Submissions via email are not accepted unless otherwise instructed.

    Initial Evaluation

    All manuscripts undergo initial checks for format, scope, and ethical compliance, including plagiarism detection (Turnitin, ≤20%). Manuscripts that do not meet basic criteria will be returned without review.

    Submission Declaration and Verification

    By submitting, authors confirm the work is original, unpublished, approved by co-authors, and not under review elsewhere. Re-publication in the same form is not permitted without consent.

    Manuscript Preparation Guidelines

    Manuscripts should follow the JPS template, include 8–10 pages, and follow the structure: Title, Authors, Affiliation, Abstract (≤250 words), Keywords (≤5), Introduction, Method, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, Author Contributions, Funding, Conflict of Interest Declaration, Acknowledgments, and References.

    All manuscripts should be prepared using a reference management tool (e.g., Zotero, EndNote, Mendeley), and formatted in APA 6th Edition. Manuscripts should contain at least 20 references (≥85% from peer-reviewed journals published within the last 10 years).

    Revised Manuscript

    Revisions must include a point-by-point response to reviewers and highlight changes. Revised manuscripts must be submitted within 2 months of decision.

    After Acceptance

    Accepted papers proceed to typesetting. Authors will receive page proofs to check formatting and accuracy.

    Proof

    Authors will receive PDF proofs for review. Only typographical, formatting, or factual corrections are allowed. Proofreading must be completed within 48 hours.

    Supplementary Materials

    Supplementary files (e.g., datasets, appendices) may be submitted with clear identification. These are published without editing.

    Article Publishing Charge

    Submission Fee: IDR 0.00
    Publication Fee: IDR 500,000.00

    Waiver Policy: Jurnal Pendidikan Sains offers publication fee waivers for authors affiliated with institutions that have limited funding or are based in low income countries. Requests for waivers must be submitted at the time of manuscript submission and will not influence the editorial decision.

    Refund Policy
    The article publication fee is not refundable under any circumstance.
