Abstract

Problem-based learning (PBM) is one of the strategies that use the problem as a first step to collect and integrate new knowledge. The use of PBM requires media. Media KOKAMI is an alternative that is used to aid the learning process. The purpose of this study was to test the effectiveness of problem-based learning to the learning achievement of physics in terms of students' problem-solving abilities. This study used a 2x2 factorial design. The subjects were students of class XI SMA Negeri 1 Jember, amounting to 190 students in fifth grade. Samples are two classes taken by simple random sampling technique. The instrument consists of treatment and measurement instruments. Homogeneity and normality test data using SPSS 16.0 for Windows, hypothesis testing using ANOVA followed two paths and Tukey's test. Results of the study are: (1) studying physics student achievement using the PBM KOKAMI higher than students who learn to use PBM, (2) the achievement of learning physics problem-solving ability students learn to use high higher than using PBM PBM KOKAMI, (3) physics learning achievement low problem-solving ability students learn to use PBM lower KOKAMI than using PBM, and (4) there is an interaction between physics learning achievement of students who learn to use PBM KOKAMI and problem solving skills.
