Abstract
The study aims to investigate the effect of distributed scaffolding in inquiry learning to higher order thinking skills (HOTS) of students, especially on optical geometry subject. This study used a quasi-experimental design with pretest and posttest control group design. The study used 10 multiple choices with open-ended questions. The data were analyzed using ANCOVA. The results showed that higher order thinking skills of students learned by inquiry learning with distributed scaffolding better than the control class. Every inquiry stage which integration with scaffolding train student to organize prior knowledge with new knowledge. Further research can deepen qualitatively about the thinking process of students in learning Physics with distributed scaffolding.
