Abstract
This research aims to strengthen understanding of the application of Scaffolding in dance learning by critically observing the learning methods used in the zone of proximal development of students, especially in class 8I of SMPN 4 Malang. Apart from that, it also critically analyzes the levels in the application of scaffolding. This research uses a qualitative approach. The methods used to compile this article are literacy studies and field observations. Literacy studies are carried out by analyzing detailed information from several literacy and documentation sources. Field observations were carried out by observing in depth the symbols, programs, activities, or events at SMPN 4 Malang within a certain period. Dance learning in class 8I has implemented scaffolding between teacher and student and student and student. The scaffolding in question takes the form of an explanation of the material at the beginning of the lesson and a demonstration by the teacher directly, as well as peer tutors. The application of scaffolding is considered capable of improving dancing skills in class 8I of SMP Negeri 4 Malang.
