Abstract
This research aims to strengthen understanding of Indonesian human identity by critically observing the signs and symbols that exist in the school ecosystem, especially at SMPN 4 Malang, and the learn-ing process about respect and appreciation for diversity. aside from that critically analyzing the ap-preciation of Pancasila values at SMPN 4 Malang to strengthen Indonesian human identity. This re-search uses a qualitative approach. The methods used to compile this article are literacy studies and field observations. Literacy studies were conducted by analyzing information in detail from several literacy sources and documentation. Field observations were carried out by observing in depth the symbols, programs, activities, or events at SMPN 4 Malang over some time certain time. Visual sym-bols that implement the values of Pancasila and diversity in the SMPN 4 Malang ecosystem in the form of places of worship, 5S posters, flags red and white, photos of the president and vice president, suggestion box, and code of conduct book. As for a symbol of appreciation of Pancasila values found in the SMPN 4 ecosystem, Malang includes religious rituals, P5 activities, 5S culture, flag ceremonies, singing the song Indonesia Raya, relating teaching material to regional culture, student council selec-tion, class commitment, and differentiated learning.
