Abstract
The Merdeka Curriculum, introduced as a new educational initiative in Indonesia, faces several challenges identified in recent studies. This study employed a literature analysis method to evaluate data from relevant articles published between 2021 and 2023. The findings highlight several major issues in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum. First, inadequate educational infrastructure, including a shortage of suitable classrooms and limited access to technology, remains a significant challenge. Second, strengthening teachers’ capacity to integrate technology into instruction is crucial because the Merdeka Curriculum relies heavily on technology-based approaches. Effective learning assessment is also a key concern and requires a holistic, process-oriented approach. Students’ socioeconomic conditions, home learning environments, and parental support likewise play important roles in the curriculum’s success. Collaborative efforts involving the government, schools, and the wider educational community are therefore essential. By improving infrastructure, expanding teacher training, and aligning policies with actual needs in the field, the Merdeka Curriculum is expected to function more effectively in improving the quality of education in Indonesia and preparing future generations to be competent and adaptable in a changing world.
