Abstract
Scientific reasoning ability is the ability to draw conclusions from the results of an investigation. The purpose of this study was to analyze students’ scientific reasoning abilities in problem-based distance learning assisted by Edmodo. This research employed an embedded experimental design. The subjects of this study were 70 eleventh-grade students of the science program at SMAN 2 Jember. The instrument used consisted of four essay questions. The results showed that the experimental class achieved an n-gain value of 0.795, categorized as high, while the control class obtained an n-gain value of 0.313, categorized as medium. Furthermore, the effect size in the experimental class was 3.28, categorized as strong, whereas the control class obtained an effect size of 1, categorized as sufficient. These findings indicate that problem-based distance learning assisted by Edmodo has a strong effect on students’ scientific reasoning abilities in learning wave topics.
